Summer Coming to an End

Hiking at Chumash Trail!
Hiking at Chumash Trail!

This summer went by way too fast. I am glad to have passed the time hanging out with friends and family and indulging in my favorite activities– like hiking and going to the beach. But I am looking forward to starting my second year of the nursing program! And I cannot wait to expand my learning and experience in the hospital.

My first post

I am excited to use new technology for our class NRS 420. I have used WordPress before, but I was not aware about some of its features. It will be great to practice and feel comfortable using it. I am a little bit concerned about the online style tests. I get very nervous when the questions appear one at a time. Other then that, I am looking forward to having a great class! The teacher seems nice, too!

First week back

It’s hard to believe that we are starting Med Surg II! It doesn’t seem that long ago that we were starting Fundamentals of Nursing. It seems like a lot has changed since then though. I have gained a lot of confidence in my ability to work hard and accomplish what I need to accomplish, whether that be a good grade on a test, a care plan, or simply doing well in clinical and not causing any harm to my patient. On the other hand, there are new things to be anxious about that I don’t think I could have even comprehended a year ago: IV meds, charting in a new computer system, starting to think about a resume for post graduation.

We shall see what the next few months brings! I can’t wait until the first few clinicals are under our belt.

Testing, testing…

The older I get, the more behind the times it seems I get with internet related applications. Thankfully, Jaime donated some precious class time to help us figure out this new tool to enhance our education and keep us up to date with various tools we can use to enhance and facilitate our learning. In addition to new learning applications, I’m excited (and perhaps a little intimidated) for the material to come in our course NRS 222. Despite the slight intimidation, I know that if we all put in both 100% to ourselves and 100% to helping each other, we will all both benefit from the course and move on to the next semester together! I am excited to start learning with everyone again!
