Imelda’s Introduction

My name is Imelda Magdaleno. I graduated from Ventura College in 2008. After passing my boards I was hired to work at Saint John’s Regional Medical Center in the Medical/Surgical department. I worked there for about five years until overstaffing and layoffs forced me to move to Acute Rehabilitation. I have been in acute Rehab for about two years. Rehab is not the department where I want to be but it is perfect now that I am in the process of obtaining my BSN. The BSN program has been a difficult experience but I am very fortunate to have made some great friends along the way. Hugo, Margaret and Cassandra have helped make this journey exciting and fun. When I have free time I love to spend time with my two and a half year old son Fernando. We like to go to the park and take walks on the beach because they help mommy relax!!  The little guy at the bottom is my son Fernando :-)

Ready Set GO!!

Greetings All, What can you say about yourself without sentence fragments, a great deal of commas, and things you would like to be doing but haven’t done? You simply start from the beginning.

My name is Vannesa I am currently 24 years old and am attending Channel Islands for my Bachelors of arts…..But lets start from the beginning so you can see how I got here…I was born in Ventura at 6 months, I weighed 1lb and 10 ounces….ok not that far back.  I would say I had a pretty good childhood despite a few events. When I  was about seven my mother was arrested and then incarcerated when I was 9.  I moved around from family member to family member and then I ended up with my uncle Kevin in Sacramento. I learned a great deal from him, probably most of my views on life and how to live by the concept hard work pays off. Etc. While there I was diagnosed with a learning disability which didn’t change anything we just figured out why I wasn’t absorbing everything as fast. During the summers I would have these work books my uncle would have me do; math, reading, writing etc. That helped so much now that I look back on it. Every Friday he would take my sister and I to rent movies and on weekends we would go to B&N and buy books to read, it was great. He as my father figure was a great experience. Then I moved back with mother when I was about fourteen and back to Ventura I went.

I found my life a little more challenging after that. We first moved back and we lived in this studio in front of this liquor store in this run down building. My mother had a boyfriend I had never met him and one day he came over and he never left. He was a an awful mooch and didn’t have a job. So one day I said to him “don’t you have some where to be, somewhere to go?”  Surprisingly he was offended, and his response was that of someone of my age then. Well we lived there about a year and a half or so then moved to an apartment that was one bed room in the same building and we then got my younger cousin Anthony. That wasn’t much of a stretch because my mother raised his other brothers.

School was very simple for me I was on honor roll those two years in middle school. Then I went to high school I hung out with the kids I met in middle school which wasn’t my best idea. I just wanted to hang out with my friends so 10th grade was not my year. But I had an amazing teacher who was  in fact my teacher in middle school she was my RSP, resource specialist program teacher. I made it to graduation with that years GPA. being a 3.8. I then went to college at Ventura College I didn’t really want to but I didn’t have the option at the time. I skipped classes, I was in YOLO mode but for my taste I wasn’t living the way I wanted to and partying hard was not the life goal  (lol) so I did something about it. I buckled down and hit the books and finished at V.C. I’m currently working full time and going to school so that’s tough. But my view on life is its not where you’ve been its where youre going. And If you come out of the predicament fine then that’s all that matters…..

Well if you’ve gotten this far it means I didn’t bore you too much. So thanks for reading

About Me

So this is my first post actually blogging. I’ve never took much interest in it but I can see why this could be a cool thing. My name is Jorge Rodriguez and I am a Communications major. When I take classes I try and see them as an honest learning experience. Don’t know about you guys but I see attending a University as a privileged experience. My hometown is Fresno CA although my mom and I moved here when I was 7, I’m 22. Honored to call such a nice place home as I consider that most of my important events in my life have been in Ventura County. My girlfriend and I of 3 years are doing well, thanks for asking. But really she’s the most amazing woman on Earth. It was a pleasure letting these things out.

A little about me :)

Hello there!

My name is Thalia Fernandez, and I am a transfer student coming from Oxnard College.  I was born in Anchorage, Alaska but raised in Oxnard. I am 21, going on 22.  My major is Psychology; I find the mind to be extremely intriguing and cannot wait to learn more about it. My future career goals are to finish my Bachelor’s here at CSUCI, and then head out to a Physician’s Assistant program.  Ultimately I want to work in the neonatal unit.  I have always had a passion to help people and babies have always been so precious to me, so who better to help than some of the most helpless human beings on this planet.  I have a very strong support system which include my parents, who will do whatever it takes to get me through school; my siblings, one of who makes me always strive for the impossible; and my very loving and supportive boyfriend of 3 years who has always done his best to make sure I am being very well taken care of.  With these people by my side anything is possible.  I look forward to sharing my journey of this new blog with you all, until next time.

A little bit about me:

Hello everyone. My name is Arthur Bazaldua (my last name is Spanish). I am a transfer student this fall 2015 semester. I moved here from northern California from the beautiful town of Monterey. If you haven’t heard or have been to Monterey, i would really encourage you to visit it one day. You won’t regret it! I’m am currently working on my BS in Biology in hopes of doing some research and maybe even applying to medicine school one day. One thing you should know about me is my love for being out doors. A few things I loved about living in Monterey is the surroundings. I loved being next to the beach, minutes away from hills and mountains to hike and having both Big Sur and Santa Cruz both about 45 minutes away. Having the beach close by is one of the reasons I chose to transfer to CSUCI. I can’t live without the beach. I want wait to get back on a kayak. I’m most definitely an adventurous person but I do not limit my adventures locally. I have been fortunate enough to travel overseas. I have been to the city of love, Paris, up along the coast of France and even got a chance to see Big Ben in London, England. But my journey doesn’t stop there. I hope to add Italy and Spain to the list sometime soon. ¡Adiós!

Introduction

Hello,

My name is Michael Gonzalez and I am a transfer student from LA. I have lived in either LA or LA county all of my life until now and I am kind of excited to  be out of that traffic. I am a Psychology major hoping to be able to go to grad school and become a neurobiologist. If I am able to become a neurobiologist I am hoping to focus my research on various neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson’s. One of my main interests is anything about music I love DJing, going to music festivals, or just hanging around in my room blasting music. After I get my career going I would love be able to travel the world and visit places such as Dubai or Amsterdam. If money permits I would also love to be able to travel to other music festivals around the world such as Ultra in Miami or Tomorrowland in Belgium. Other interests include many things outdoorsy such as hiking, off-roading, snowboarding, and wake boarding. As I grew older I would love to be able to purchase an off-roading jeep and an RV so I can make impromptu camping trips.

Blog Numero Uno

Hey everyone, my name is David Ryland Pressly, although I strongly prefer to go by Ryland. So here are 200 hundred words about myself. I am twenty three years old, and I am an Aquarius. I think I fit the mold of being an Aquarius pretty well and enjoy reading about that kind of stuff. I really like cats, and will probably have like fifty and I’ll live alone in some cabin with all my cats. I like Chipotle and Netflix a lot. My cat (Po-Po) also likes Chipotle and Netflix alot. Coffee and Alcohol make up the other parts of my life, and I really like to dance and party. I’m pretty amazing at tennis and beer pong as well. I like to think I’m pretty talented at multiple things, and as you can tell I’m pretty full of myself. I try not to be, but I don’t try that hard. But, that said, I don’t take myself seriously at all ever so you probably shouldn’t either.

I’m an aspiring English Teacher and Writer. I want to help third world countries and other impoverished nations after I receive my degree. I feel like seeing what other people will go through will change my life. It will also help me teach my future students. I love volunteering, I have on multiple occasions and will continue to do so. Helping and serving people who go through rough patches is a passion.

So, that is all I have right now. I hope to meet and (possibly) have a beer with y’all because this world is full of so many incredible people. If you read this, thanks for listening to my messed up self, and have a fantastic day.
