hi

Hi my name is Ricardo Esparza. I am from Oxnard and a transfer student from Ventura College. My favorite things to do is eat, sleep, watch movies, drink ,hang out with my friends, and go explore new places.I am a sociology major still thinking on what kind of job i can get.  I like to work on car audio and making the music in the car sound louder as possible. When I was a kid I used to see my uncles and dad blast music from their cars and hear them from streets away my house, which made me want a car just so I can do the same.I also work right now in a stereo shop tinting cars and well working on car audio.  I love my brother and sisters and take them wherever they want. I spoil them like crazy.  I like Toppers Pizza, Oreo cookies,, shoes and hats.

Hello class, my name is Travis Frohlich, I am from Santa Barbara and I transferred here from Santa Barbara City College studying communications. I am looking forward to this class and one thing I have noticed right away is that the teachers seem awesome which can really make or break a class i’ve learned over the years. This is the first time that I have ever made a website and it has been a process but a good one at that. I haven’t customized it too much due to me being indecisive on a few cosmetic things but I plan to as we work with the site through the semester. I didn’t know what to expect but the videos spoon fed it to me making it very understandable and easy to complete. Im still not too familiar with how to navigate the site so referring back to the helpful videos has been a great tool. I hope to share with my classmates a few things about myself as we post more and more as well as learn about others in the class. Its still a little vague to me as to exactly what we are using this website for but I am sure it will be clear as the semester starts to roll.

Back From the Past

FullSizeRender (1) It’s Friday morning, I head to my first and last class of the week, University 198. I have no idea what I should be expecting in it being a college course, because I  always expect for the worst. Well to my thrill It wasn’t bad unless you consider going through history right before you eyes to be horrible. Well to my liking we as a class were reading letters, postcards, as well as telegrams to Congressman Bizz Johnson during the Vietnam war. As citizen of the US expressed both their concerns and approval of the matter. Many of the articles in which I read were from 1972 where FullSizeRender (1)majority of the public were against the war and wanted troops to be drawn back.

It was interesting to see that not only are mothers and women of the troops against the war but actual veterans and active troops as well. There was a note that I had stumbled upon from a World War Two Veteran that was completely calling out on the governments  humanity and moral. Stating “where is your hear where is your mind” completely defacing the Military stating himself that he is ashamed of the Military and congress for allowing the war to progress. He then continues to place all blame on the United States, saying that we were in the wrong from the start of this war. It is so interesting to see just how someone not too long was defending our FullSizeRendercountry and trained to be patriotic and then so against US involvement.

Along with some of the more serious and emotional letters send out there was also quite a few angry civilians who didn’t even bother putting there names on  their post cards, because they just wanted to get their point across being that they were just so angry with the injustice taking place.

A sneak peek to my life.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Gloria Pedrero and I am 20 years old. I come from a family of five, I have an older brother and a little sister. I am a transfer student from Oxnard College and I am really excited to experience my journey here at Cal State Channel Islands. I am planning on majoring in Business and I would like to pursuit a minor in Spanish. I believe that education is one gift that no one can take away from you; therefore, I plan on working on my MBA after my bachelors. Besides being a college student I am also a part time employee. I work as a research assistant at Reiter Affiliated Company. I am working as a research assistant for a study conducted by UC Davis that is trying to improve the farm workers’ health. I am also a receptionist at an optometrist office. My schedule is always busy since I invest most of my time to school and work; however, I also find time to spend with my family and with my boyfriend. I Love doing activities outdoors such as hiking and going to the beach. I am a really outgoing person and I love to meet new people. I am a strong believer that hard work pays off and that anything that is work for with love and passion is always possible.

Introduction

Sierra Vista Clinic
Sierra Vista Family Medical Clinic

Hello, my name is Hugo Ortiz and I graduated from Ventura College in 2011 with my ADN.  After passing the boards, I was hired at Sierra Vista Family Medical Clinic, a VCMC-affiliated ambulatory clinic in Simi Valley, as a back office supervisor.  At the time, I supervised a team of thirteen medical assistants, three LVNs, and two phlebotomists for about six months before being promoted to Nursing Supervisor.  As Nursing Supervisor, I headed the new case management program with at team of three registered nurses.  Currently, I case manage all Coumadin and Hepatitis C patients, as well as supervise the RN case managers. Other duties include interviewing, hiring, training, and disciplining staff, as well as providing the nurses and back office supervisor with their yearly evaluations/reviews. Eventually, I’d like to become a Nurse Practitioner and work as a family provider at Sierra Vista Clinic.  My two big hobbies include concerts (I try to catch as many as I can) and electronics (gadgets, phones, tablets, computers, game consoles…yes, I’m pretty nerdy).  I also love spending time with my godson who is currently learning to drive, and my dog who I didn’t want at first but can’t live without now.
