It is almost March 31, 2015 and the end is near for my germination study! Here I show my most recent data on the effect of leaf litter and precipitation on Island Torrey Pine germination time. My findings suggest that the presence of leaf litter has an impact on germination rate and viability of the Island Torrey Pine. This is seen most drastically between drought (LP) years under the presence (+LL) and absence (-LL) of leaf litter.
Figure 1: Germination time of SRI Island Torrey pine (Pinus torreyana insluaris) with different irrigation and leaf litter treatments. HP = High Irrigation, LP = Low Irrigation, +LL = Leaf Litter Presence, -LL = Leaf Litter Absence.
Thank you Sean, Tom, John, and Diana for this amazing opportunity to help the people of New Orleans and take the time to teach us about the issues Louisiana faces. We are all grateful to be part of this amazing cause!
We were treated to a delicious, traditional Irish breakfast and live music before we head off to our flight home!
Here at the rugby pub having a nice Sunday morning brunch before our flight back to California. This whole experience has been amazing. We have met some awesome people and done great work.
