img_1104My group members and I have shared all of our sketches for the Driffill Elemenatary sports teams today. We critiqued each others sketches and picked out the logos we we felt worked best for the school’s shirts. For this project we are planning to move on to taking our logo sketches to illustrator and making more variations with the typography. We have moved forward with the poster project for professor Perchuk. We have looked at the final drafts for the posters for approval, and we sent them to professor Perchuk. Another project I’ve been working on today is the Line Lackeys club logo. I am currently in the sketching process, and have a couple of ideas sketched out so far. The president in the club wanted something with an anchor, so I have been trying out different way that I can incorporate an anchor in the logo. I am trying to sketch logos with circular and diamond shaped housing. I also tried one that focuses more on the club’s name. I’m going to be sketching out more logos for the club, before I present them to my group members for feedback.

Today I submitted to Trello (the app we are using to put everything together so we can see each other progress), my ” Poster # 1 Draft ” for team review again. Today morning received more feed back and made some more changes according to the mentioned  feed back, what was done was some improvements on the typeface and sizes on the same. Also added some more texture and details in some parts of the poster that need to bring more attention because they felt too plain and boring. Next, I added the CI gradient logos in a white box on the button of the poster to bring attention of the programs that are representing, involved on this lecture series. I believe is always good to promote the programs as much as possible, because the main idea for me is to show to the public this university programs and what are they offering to the community so more people want to come and enroll in those classes. Below is a final draft for today.

Also today I finished some quick drafts for the sports t- shirts logos for Driffil Elementary School. I choose to developed the “Track team logo” and “the basketball logo,” I tried to made the logo play together with the school name and have a movement effect. Also I use some circular housing to make it more consistent. I submitted the logos to Trello as well for feed back from my teammates. Tomorrow we are meeting again to talk in person about these logos ans try to make them all cohesive so they feel from the same school. Below is a sample of my logo sketches.

richard_basketballsketchesI have made significant progress with my sports t-shirt sketches, I have finally finished and refined my sketches for the soccer shirts. I then Started looking at some more soccer logos and sketching out my ideas for the football t-shirt designs. I have also done the same for the basketball shirts designs, and I am already in the sketching stage. I am just about done with basketball sketches, but I plan to go back and make more refinements. We plan to present each other our sketches of the sports t-shirt designs, and get feedback from each other. We want to send some of our sketches to the Driffill Elementary as soon as possible. I have also started brainstorming on logo ideas for the Line lackeys slacking club. I’ve been looking at videos on YouTube to see what exactly slacking is, and get an idea of how I can incorporate it into a logo. I’ve also been looking at logos that look similar in style to what the president of the club showed us on our meeting. There has also been progress made with the posters being created for Professor Perchuk. Bess and Fernando have made refinements on their original drafts, and have presented them to the group again for feedback.

Today, I modify my draft base of my teammates feedback. I changed the layout a little bit to arrange the hierarchic between the words. I also made some color chances to have the poster be more simple and neutral looking. I was trying to follow the colors and team from the name of the speaker’s book ” oceans of the world”.  Changing the colors to a dark grey instead of just black, help the harmony with the main illustration of underwater. On the top of the poster where the title goes, a super light grey was set to help bring the blue title more. I tried also to use an old world kind of typeface to help even more the team. At the same time I have to take in consideration that this poster is the template for the next ones to come; so, it has to be design to be compatible with other team at least the layout of the main series title.

I have continued with my sketching and research for the driffill elementary school project. I have been looking at what other soccer t-shirt designs are being created. I am leaning more towards an illustrative quality for these designs. I have sketched out more ideas since last night, but I’m really liking these two I’ve been working on today (pictured above). For these designs I picture them being printed in gold on maroon t-shirts. I will continue to work on these sketches and refine them so I can present them to my group for a critique before sending them out to the driffill assistant principal. My next step for this project is to start working on sketches for the football and basketball shirts. I first need to refine the soccer t-shirts in order to use them as a guide for the style of the rest of the t-shirts. We want to create t-shirts that are unified by their style so that we can create an identity for the school and create school spirit. My team members Bess and Fernando worked on drafts for the posters for Professor Perchuk, which we got to see today. We got to see their drafts and had a critique, so that they can make changes before presenting the two poster ideas to Perchuk.

Today as everyday, I exchange ideas via text with my team mates about our progress and work assigned. My team mates need it the CI official logos for their work so I did my best to get them and provide the logos to them. Also today I started a first draft of the first poster for professor Perchuck. Bess and myself are creating 2 options of the first poster for her to chose. the main image of this post has the draft of the firs poster.

Right now, I’m waiting for some feed back from my team mates to improve my design and I’m also giving feed back back to the other person in our team creating the second version of the first poster.

After having received information about a possible project with Professor Perchuk, we emailed her and set up a meeting time that was convenient for everyone. We had a little meeting with her tonight at the Napa hall gallery, were we discussed the details of the project. We will be providing her with an initial poster as soon as next week, with a second poster around mid-October. There will then possibly be three other posters we will be working on throughout the semester. These posters will all be similar as these events will be related to one another. We have started moving forward with our Driffill Elemntary school project and we have assigned each other different projects to work on. I will be starting to work on the Line Lackeys slack club project, providing them with what we discussed on our meeting yesterday. I was assigned to work on three of the sports t-shirts, which include soccer, football, and basket ball. I will be collaborating design ideas with Jason (soccer and football shirts) and Fernando (basketball shirt). I have started looking for more inspiration for the soccer t-shirt design, which Is one of the projects I’ve been assigned to for our Driffill Project. Along with looking for more inspiration, I have also began sketching out rough ideas for the t-shirt designs. We have also emailed the graft group with their project in order to move the project forward. Along with the email, he was sent a link to our trello board which we are using for project management. We are going to be working on projects for three of their online companies which requires our team to build an identity package for each one. We provided him with some questions that will help aide us through the design process.

Today I met with professor Perchuk at her office at 11:00 am. We talked about the size of the poster which is 11×17 in., the general feeling on the poster a 1500’s old world team, and the content that has to be shown to the audience.

We also talked about how we are going to be contacting here so she can provide us the logos ans future information for the new posters. Professor Perchuk also showed me past posters from other capstone classes, so my team and I can have a better idea of what she is expecting from us. The main image in this post display the posters she showed me next to her office. Of course she knows that the first poster is in a rush.

Later that day, we met as a team with professor Perchuk at the gallery reception in Napa Hall at 6:30 to clarify all the information a second time to make sure we all are in the same channel.

Later that night we met as a team to talk about what we will be doing for the weekend and put together all information from the clients in a aplication Bess created so we can organize everything together and shared and comment each other designs.

Meetings

Today we attended meetings with three of our clients. Our first meeting was with the assistant principal at driffill elementary school in Oxnard. This was our second meeting with the principal, and this time we went to the school to get more of a feel for the school and what they represent. We got a tour of the campus where we got to ask questions to some of the staff and the students. We also presented some of the ideas and inspiration we had for their designs. We also got a clear idea of what assets they would like for us to create, which includes: redesigned sports t-shirts, spirit t-shirts, redesign of school brochure, creation of self-adhesive vinyl sticker designs to place around the campus. We then had a second meeting with the president of the CI love your melon club. We talked about the projects they had for us, which are: creating a promotional poster, visuals for social media posts, and event posters. Our last meeting was with the president of the Line Lackeys Slacking Club, and we talked about a logo redesign, informational poster and event posters. We looked at some of the ideas he had and the direction he wants to take the logo. We got a lot of helpful information from today’s meetings and our next step is to create and provide sketched out ideas for the client’s approval.
