Hello Nursing 401!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Samantha Betteridge and I have been an RN for about 5 months.  I graduated from College of the Canyons in June 2014, took the NCLEX in July, and now I am in ADN-BSN program here at CI.  I am really close with my family and I live with my mom, dad, and two younger sisters.  Outside of nursing, I love to snowboard, exercise, get together with friends, relax with my family, and lots of other things to stay active and have fun.  I currently work as a  nanny to a 3 year old girl while I am in school.  After I get my BSN, I am really interested in working in the ED.  I am not sure where I see my nursing career headed.  I would like to find my niche in nursing before I decide where I want my career to go.  For now, I am trying to keep my mind open to all possibilities and areas of work!

Introduction

Hi All :)

I’m Cristina di Bartolo. I completed my ADN at College of the Canyons in December of 2013 and passed the NCLEX in July of this year. I currently don’t have any nursing experience outside of nursing school clinical rotations. I did work for Kaiser Woodland Hills as a phlebotomist for two years, so I’m comfortable in a hospital setting.

I am the single mother a 12-year-old boy/pre-teen named Miles. He’s wonderful and brilliant but quite a handful. As such, I’ve elected to remain in my current job as a bartender until I’ve finished school.  A new job, school, plus an almost teenage son would be a bit much, being that a need and want to give my all in every area of my life.

My interest in terms of nursing include pediatrics, pediatric oncology, public health (specifically in the LGBTQ community), and OR; I’d love to become and RNFA at some point. I’m excited to see where my career takes me!

I’ve enjoyed the last two semesters at CSUCI, all the people I’ve met have been great. I’m looking forward to getting to know more of you!

Hello Classmates!

Hello Classmates!

My name is Ashley Eads. I graduated nursing school in December 2013.  I cant believe its already been a year,  I’m still recovering from the PTSD!!  I currently work as a RN at Los Robles Hospital on a medical surgical unit, and I love it.  I learn something new every shift.  However,  my heart is in the emergency room and I hope to transfer there after I gain some more experience.  Eventually I hope to get my DNP and be certified as a  nurse practitioner.

Tell us about yourself, your nursing experience, school background, family, and/or outside interests. Are you working? Where? If not, where would you like to work? Where do you see your nursing career headed?

Hello everyone,

My name is Emily Wheeler. I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. I am the fourth child out of five in my family. I have 2 older brothers, an older sister, and a younger sister. I love my big family very much and I’m very grateful for all their support they give to me. I graduated from Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) this past May 2014,  where I did my prerequisites in 1 year for the nursing program as well as where I received my Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN). I enjoyed my 2 year ADN program very much and gained an immense amount of knowledge about nursing. Once I graduated from my ADN program, I was eager to take the NCLEX and get my registered nursing license. It took quite some time to receive my Authorization to Test (ATT) from the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) but eventually I did receive it and took my NCLEX on October 2nd. I found out I passed two days later on October 4th 2014. I was extremely excited and happy! I have been a Registered Nurse for about 2 months now and have been looking for a part time position so I can begin my career! Once I am finished with the ADN to BSN 14 month “fast track” program here at CSUCI I want to apply for a full time position in a hospital. My areas of interest in nursing are cardiac, trauma, and public health. I may also be interested working in a surgery center or possibly home health care sometime in my career. As you can see, I have many interests related to nursing! :) I am very passionate about nursing and look forward to starting my career in which I begin to care for a variety of different patients. Some outside interests that I have include: traveling, spending time with family and friends, swimming, sailing,  running, hiking, biking, gardening, going to the beach, being in nature, going to the movies, and cooking. I am very excited to start this class! I look forward to seeing you all!
