After class we had some critics from the instructor about Active Planet Kids illustrations for Gorge. I in particular was asked to improve my backgrounds so they reflect a better perspective. The other one need it to reflect a more iconic place in India were the Dalai Lama is being welcome. I decided to add some more detail to my first background were is suppose to represent the inside of the temple where the Dalai Lama prays. I made some changes to the mats where the people pray with him so they play a better perspective on the scene. I also add some more contrast to the design texture added to the throne so the one is the background doesn’t mix with it. I added some wood texture to the floor because is the material is build the temple, well at lest the floor. For the second background I had at first a plane mountain background. To give more Indian feeling to that region I’m trying to illustrate, I research some images from the region and I found out that building big temple like houses on the edge of the mountain is a common practice in there. I decided to illustrate the same practice they do by adding temple like structures to my mouthing I previously design.
Bellow are the samples of the revise background designs for Gorge:

Today, I finalize the poster number 3 for professor Perchuck, I decided to use the larger image (a large church )with more negative space to balk out the entire folder. By doing so I could include the other more busy images into the collage/ photo montage. I decided to place the 3 other images to the right of the poster so the image of the lecture speaker is balance with he images, because the image of the speaker is in the lower left corner. I believe my poster has a nice balance and as always the images are the main focus for the viewer. That way we can get the attention of the viewer more efficiently than just having text with different colors. I posted my design in Trello for feedback from my teammates. They said just to play little bit more with the position of the title, as well professor Perchuck said similar comments. After all the revisions I upload my final poster as a .JPG for the professor. I believe is now sent for printing.
Below is a sample of the finalize poster:

We have continued working on our Active Planet Kids project, and we have been splitting up the work between each other. This week, I was in charge of creating the elements for Dalai Lama. I created a vector of different things associated with Dalai Lama and Buddhism.

I have been working on creating revisions for the line lackeys club. We are still waiting to receive a sketch of his idea, so we can create a vector of it. In the meantime I have taken my sketches, that he approved, and created vectors of them. I will be emailing these options to the president for his approval.

Since my last post I have fixed the logos for the Channel Eye-Lands Pre-Optometry club. The president requested that I add “CSU” to it. I created two different variations of the logo with the “CSU” in it. I created one with the same font as the rest of the logo, and I created another one with lettering that looks like part of the eyeball veins.

We finally hear back from professor Perchuck with all the new information to complete the rest of the posters for her speaker lectures series. I have finished the second poster for her completely, she already saw the preview it just need it the room number at the library. We suggested her to include the CI disability statement on the bottom of the design to create awareness about this services the school provide and also to fill the negative space on the bottom, a win win if we could say that. I currently working on the 3rd poster, it should be ready before next class.

Talking to my teammates the past class we decided to assigned new designs to multitask on the week. I was assigned to create a new set of backgrounds for Dalai Lama. Today I finished the set of three backgrounds for one of the already made bubble head for Gorge’s active planet kids book. The first background I’ve created is a landscape of a Tibet region in china, super large mountains and planes with grass. The second background is a landscape with a temple and a small river / lake. The last of the backgrounds I did this week is a scene inside a temple where the Dalai Lama prays with his followers. To get a rich texture for my backgrounds I converted texture images into bitmap then put it on top of the shapes and lower the opacity to obtain a seamless texture.

Below are the three images of the backgrounds I did this week:

We are now done with our logos designs for the GraftGroup online stores (Biking, Working Out, and Hobbies). Same, one of the owners of these stores, have approved our logo designs. We are now waiting for their final decisions between the options we gave them for each website. Since our last post the designs of these logos have gone through some changes. The first image is from my last post, which was the second revision. I then did two more revisions, with the fourth one being the final one.

After creating sketches for Driffills graduation and spirit shirts, we had a critique and chose the designs that were the best fit for the school. We took those sketches and created vector graphics based on the sketches. We have also created a brochure and banner for the school as well.

After sending out logo sketches for the Channel Eye-Lands Pre-Optometry club, we got approval for the sketches. They decided to go with sketch #3, which I created Three slightly different variations. One with an empty center, and two with veins(one of which has a hidden dolphin).

The banner for Driffill School was finished today, I was assigned to develop a banner for the elementary school from K-8. I made a banner with 3ft x 8ft dimensions, I believe that is the standard banner side for events. I use the logo they want to keep and I added the slogan they wan us to use as well ” we are loud, we are proud, we are rams”. I decided to add a patron as a background / texture because I felt the background being red was too empty, too much negative space to be fill.

Also, today I finished working of the revised logos for Biking.com, I made the bike design thicker and also a mock up of a website so the client in this occasion Sam can see the logo in a real web page. That will give him a better idea on how the logo works and if he wants it for his biking.com domain.

Below is a sample of the designs I did so far this week:

A total of three backgrounds were finished today. The backgrounds were related it to Abraham Lincoln, for the bubble head provided by Gorge’s children book. The fist one is a design similar to Abraham Lincoln Memorial, it is not exact as the real one but it gives a sense to it. The second one is a illustration of the place Abraham Lincoln was born, a wooden small house, I try to show some texture on the design to show the wood in the house. The third one, is a landscape showing Fort Abraham Lincoln, I chose this image to develop because the shape of the fort is original and not common anymore, at the same time it will show some history behind him and the kids would be carious to learn more of this unusual building. I posted my design for review from my teammates and I got really good comments, no adjustments to be made for now in these backgrounds for Abraham Lincoln.

Today we receive a confirmation email to start working on new logs for a CI club called “Eye-Lands” a per-optometry club. They chose 3 of the many drafts we sent to them for their own logo and banners. One of the designs they chose was mine, so I’m going to be developing the new banner for them. We were sent another email to them telling them that they should probably focus in choosing a main design for their main logo so student don’t get confuse recognizing the logo, it was just a suggestion of course, if they really want to have many logos we are happy to develop those for them. As of today I will be working on the new backgrounds elements for Abraham Lincoln, as well as this banner with the logo, also do another revise to Sam’s web sites logos and create new versions so there can be more options for him to choose and see if we can move to the next step fro him.

Below is a sample of the design i am going to be developing for Eye-Lands club:
