Crossing the Channel Presentation
Crossing the Channel is a program created by Dr. Cause Hanna, professor and director of the CSUCI Santa Rosa Research Station. The program combines middle school students from R.J. Frank Middle School, high school students from Channel Islands High shool, undergraduates from CSUCI, and professional mentors into groups focused on environmental education through collaboration. As a research student undergraduate I aim to become a mentor for these students and open their hearts to the joy of an environmentally friendly and active lifestyle. As well as educating them on the importance of field research specifically pertaining to rocky intertidal habitats. I will be mentoring the students through a simplified version of intertidal monitoring that will allow them to perform species counts. Provided below is a presentation given to a group of Channel Islands High School Students.
