SURVIVOR BLOG POST #7

In the beginning of this episode of Survivor, the tribe discusses how Julie quit on the spot and should have at least stuck around until the elimination round. This relates directly to the chapter because she did not have an effective problem solving strategy and didn’t include or inform any of the group members of her decision. She pretty much put her blinders up to everybody and blocked out all forms of communication.Julie had no action to develop a plan for solving her issues and just took the easy way out.  One of the group members even mentioned that she threw a wrinkle in the tribes plan (this is also the title of the episode), because they all planned to vote the fireman off.

Also, the majority of tribe has formed an alliance which makes it hard for other members to have any input or power in any of their group decisions. In the first challenge for this episode, the tribe demonstrates creative problem solving in various ways. They developed a strategy which involves the strong tribe members doing the heavy work , then they use the fastest tribe member to race to the top of the temple to unlock a statue. The entire tribe then works together to hoist the flag, which symbolizes that they have won after its raised. Overall, all of these strategies the tribe used to win the challenge are great examples of creative problem solving in groups.
